John Bhaba Jeaic Ó Conghaile has amassed a unique private collection of various interesting artefacts over the years. This wonderful collection is now on public display in Ionad Oidhreachta Leitir Mealláin, courtesy of John. The centre showcases the rich history and culture of the islands of Lettermullen and Gorumna, which have been inhabited for over 4,000 years. John’s collection is rich and varied, relating to the education, religion, folklore, and daily life of the islanders, and includes photographic archives, printed materials, newspapers, books, magazines, posters, flyers and more. Tools used in the crafts of blacksmithing, farming, carpentry and cooking are also on display in the Leitir Mealláin centre. John Bhaba Jeaic has kindly loaned some of his collection for display as part of Clann Miotlantach / Mythlantics, our current solo exhibition by Alice Rekab.

Clann Miotlantach / Mythlantics by Alice Rekab is organised by Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh, Co. Cork in collaboration with Galway Arts Centre. It’s curated by Miguel Amado and presented as part of a tour produced by Rayne Booth. The exhibition is realised in part with funding from the Arts Council through a Project Award and the tour is delivered with funding from the Arts Council through the Touring of Work Scheme.

Please note, “Thursday Lates” will not take place on May 15th and 22nd while Galway Arts Centre are installing a new exhibition.
