The Sofia City Ballet was founded in 2009 with the vision of bringing together Bulgaria’s top dancers to create a dynamic and evolving dance company providing performance opportunities for talented young classically trained dancers.

Since its inception, Sofia City Ballet has showcased a repertoire of classical ballets, including The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty. Collaborating with distinguished artists from the Bucharest National Opera and Ballet, the Sofia National Opera and Ballet, whilst Alexander Stoyanov, Katerina Kukhar, and Tatiana Golyakova from the Kiev National Ballet have also contributed to the company’s performances.

With a dedication to artistic excellence The Sofia City Ballet has gained critical acclaim and a loyal following in Europe and far beyond. As the company evolves, it remains committed to uplifting and advancing the art of ballet in all forms. Lauded for its authentic interpretations of classical ballets, Sofia City Ballet’s artistic director Yordan Krastev adheres to original choreography, ensuring a genuine artistic experience.

From Italy and Spain to Greece, South Korea, the Czech Republic, Serbia, the UAE, and Oman, Sofia City Ballet has established a global presence, consistently delivering sold-out shows with some of the finest dancers in the world of Ballet.
