TABÚ Queermas Ball at The Space
Tabú Queermas Ball is here, so don the glad rags and dust off the tiara – this ball requires your Sunday Best!
Don’t worry, all the TABÚ filth you know and love will still be there. Expect gorgeously Queer performers and the banging bass DJs, that has made TABÚ a favourite night out in Galway.
After the hugely successful Samhain event, TABÚ is back for another spicy instalment of mischief and mayhem in its home, The Space. Enjoy campy bass heavy bangers, ass shaking, weird and wonderful performers… shapes will indefinitely be thrown!
TABÚ was set up to be a safe haven for all members of the Queer community with a heavy focus on FINTA (Female, Intersex, Non-Binary, Trans and ASexual) members. Accessibility and inclusivity is a president at TABÚ. The venue is fully wheelchair or mobility requirements accessible (entrance, toilets, smoking area but bar is regular height and a temporary ramp is put in place to access dancefloor but there are ample dancing areas around dancefloor that are independently accessible)
IMPORTANT INFO
This is an over 18s event and ID will be requested.
There are no rules around wearing tracksuits, they are allowed.
There is no dress code, but a lot of attendees wear kink, fetish, more revealing clothes if they want to.
TABÚ don’t operate a ‘no phones’ policy but do give out colour code wristbands as a guide for their official photographer. The system is: take a green band if you are okay with photos and a red band if you are NOT okay with photos being taken. It is helpful if you raise your hand up if you see a photographer so they can clearly see your red band. If you are extra cautious about photos being taken of you, you can make yourself known to the photographer and ask specifically not to take photos of you. This will help them a lot.
TABÚ operate a Welfare Stewards system at the events. This means there will be two trained Welfare Stewards that will be keeping an eye on everyone’s safety and well-being but also if you encounter any issues (sexual harassment, abuse, suspected spiking – they have test kits – or you’re just not feeling well mentally) you can approach the Welfare Stewards for assistance and they will look after you. TABÚ work in conjunction with security guards but they are not the first point of contact for issues of this nature. This is a move to better protect attendees.
There is a Code of Conduct that must be adhered to. Anyone who does not respect others, will be removed from the event.
CODE OF CONDUCT
-No homophobia (this should be obvious!)
-No transphobia
-No biphobia
-No racism
-No ableism

-Look out for each other x
TABÚ is supported by Galway City Council Night-Time Economy and the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport, building on Galway’s thriving night-time economy by ensuring everyone feels welcome to participate
