Padraig Jack at Róisín Dubh

Steadily proving himself to be one of Irelands’ finest contemporary songwriters in the two languages, RTE Folk Awards nominee Padraig Jack is a native of the Aran islands. This place has produced the writers Liam O’Flaithearta, Máirtín Ó’Direáin and Breandán Ó’hEithir. Padraig is proudly bilingual both as a conversationalist and a songwriter and writes and sings meaningful songs on guitar and piano. With influences from James Taylor and The Eagles to Van Morrison, Sinead O’Connor and Shane McGowan, Padraig appreciates strong songwriting with a distinct point of view.

Having demonstrated his songwriting bona fides with his critically acclaimed debut ‘Making Sand’, which was named ‘RTE Album of the Week’ and garnered an RTE Folk Award nomination for ‘Best Original Song’ (Making Sand), Padraig is again teaming up with renowned producer John Reynolds (Sinead O’Connor, Damien Dempsey) and his occasional co-writing partner Barry Ronan as well as former Waterboy and Saw Doctors member Anthony Thistlethwaite.

Having toured Ireland and the UK as special guest to artists such as Miles Hunt of The Wonder Stuff, Damien Dempsey and Sharon Shannon, Padraig feels as comfortable on the contemporary music stage as he does when contextualising his own Irish Gaelic cultural background on multilingual tours of Wales and the Basque country.
