Ogreta & Olivia Kaplan at Róisín Dubh

Irish singer-songwriter, Ogreta, returns home after beginning her music career in Los Angeles. She brings along a staple of the LA singer-songwriter scene, Olivia Kaplan, for a short run through southern Ireland. The two will co-headline small venues in Galway, Dingle, West Cork and Dublin. The bill promises intimate performances by the two lyric-driven powerhouse artists and will showcase their respective new record releases. OGRETA A blend of poignant and playful lyricism and cinematic arrangements, Ogreta is the indie folk project from Irish artist Penny O’Brien. Produced and recorded in LA where O’Brien is based, Ogreta’s debut album ‘Happy Belated’ was released in June 2024. Happy Belated teases us with deep folk accents and draws us in with weighted builds and rounded, soft lyricism. A refreshingly raw and
charming perspective on relationships, loneliness, and time passing.

Olivia Kaplan (b. 1992, California) is a musician based in Los Angeles. She has just released her sophomore LP, Afterlife (2024). Her songs explore the secret bonds between grief and time, slowness and memory, sadness and sleep. Following the release of her critically acclaimed debut LP Tonight Turns To Nothing (2021) on Topshelf Records, Olivia toured North America extensively with Billie Marten. She has also shared the stage with The War on Drugs, Miya Folick, Buck Meek, Hand Habits, Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, Helena Deland, and Courtney Marie Andrews. Olivia studied voice and ethnomusicology at McGil University and UCLA. Her sound and songwriting have drawn comparisons to
Cowboy Junkies, Sheryl Crow, Adrianne Lenker, and Cat Power.
