Live Concert with Supergroup CODA at Clifden Station House Theatre

Coda is an eight-piece group from Mayo renowned for their richly-harmonised vocals and eclectic repertoire.

It is rare to find a group of singers and musicians who so effortlessly combine strong roots in Irish traditional, folk, and contemporary music with a distinctive a cappella vocal style. Drawing on exce ptional vocal talent from Mayo on Ireland’s west coast, Coda began developing their own richly layered approach to vocal harmony several years ago, creating a sound that is both powerful and beautifully refined.

Their debut album, Mouthmusic (2013), produced by Maurice Lennon, marked the arrival of a unique vocal ensemble. Since then, Coda has performed widely at home and abroad, appearing at major festivals and venues including Temple Bar Tradfest and Electric Picnic, as well as on numerous RTÉ and TG4 television and radio programmes. Their music has also featured on film and television soundtracks.

In 2017, Coda released their second album, Train of Spirits, produced by the legendary Dónal Lunny, featuring twelve superbly arranged original, contemporary, and traditional songs. More recently, the group launched their third album, O’Carolan in Song, a stunning interpretation of the songs of Turlough O’Carolan, commissioned for the Achill Harp Festival 2021. Renowned harper Freda Hatton joined Coda for the live recording at The Valley House, Achill, and has since become the group’s eighth member.
