Hawthorn and Spring Herbs Workshop at Slieve Aughty Centre

Come and drink in the joys of Spring on the doorstep of Bealtaine as we seek Hawthorn and other wild herbs of the Slieve Aughty region. At this workshop you will collect leaves and flowers of diverse edible and medicinal plants to make salad, tonic, tincture and tea.

The workshop will be led by Edward Blain. Edward has been gathering wild herbs for making food and medicine for 14 years. Having trained with experienced foragers in England he has accumulated over 14 years of professional experience collecting herbs and mushrooms for restaurants and farmers markets in England, the United States and Ireland.

Edward has a passion for edible and medicinal herbs. His keen devotion to native and naturalised wild plants—tending, cultivating, and caring for them—has brought him to work on various land restoration and wild plant regeneration projects.

Edward will instill in you a respect for the forest and its inhabitants whilst teaching you to safely and simply identify plants and the power held within each one.
