Galway Theatre Festival presents Sheep! at The Mick Lally Theatre

Running from the 30th of April to May 9th 2026, the Galway Theatre Festival presents a programme rooted firmly in theatre- while embracing the many ways theatre can be made and experienced. Across ten days, audiences will encounter work that draws on music, dance, circus, puppetry and spoken word, all grounded in live performance and storytelling.

Sheep! By Jenni Nikinmaa
A play about sheep, flocks and belonging, told by a sheep who doesn’t know how to belong after she was sexually assaulted.

To find her way back into the herd, she weaves an off-beat comedic tale of sheep who are born, loved, eaten and go to space in search of the lost connection. An autobiographical, imaginary exploration of the hard feelings one goes through after a sexual assault, told through the extended metaphor of sheep.

A powerful, weird and wonderful monologue that invites you into joy and resilience, into the flock of soft, fluffy and vulnerable sheep.

Supported by Galway County Council, Galway Theatre Festival, Flock of Crowdfunders, Galway Rape Crisis Centre.
Duration: 60 mins
Guidance: 16+. Contains discussions of sexual assault.
