Faith Healer by Brian Friel

After a sold out run at The Mick Lally Theatre, the award-winning Dunmore Amateur Dramatic Society (DADS) are bringing Brian Friel’s Faith Healer to Galway’s Town Hall Theatre for one special performance.

Written by Brian Friel, one of Ireland’s greatest dramatists, Faith Healer tells the story of Frank Hardy, his wife Grace, and his manager Teddy, who traverse rural Wales and Scotland, offering Frank’s unique gift to people in need. Over the course of four monologues, the story of their shared life together is revealed in conflicting, haunting, and devastating accounts. In Faith Healer, Brian Friel creates a metaphoric portrait of an artist, and illustrates how any special gift can both bless and curse a life. The play encompasses themes of identity, exile and homecoming and the characters’ stories weave together to form a spellbinding narrative in this masterpiece of modern theatre.

DADS are a seasoned and accomplished theatre company. They produce the work of both Irish and international playwrights from the great literary canon whose artistic vision and underlying themes still speak to our society today. They have performed Faith Healer all over the country at Drama Festivals this year, taking 1st place in 5 festivals, and winning a host of acting awards for the trio of accomplished actors. Ollie Turner as ‘Frank’, Eleanor Sheridan as ‘Grace’ and Martin Silke as ‘Teddy’. All three have won awards for their portrayals of Frank, Grace and Teddy.
