Climate Inspirations: Talks + Panels – Sport & Climate Action

As part of the Galway Climate Inspirations Festival, the “Sport & Climate Action” panel discussion will take place on Saturday 14th at An Taibhdhearc, on Middle Street.

This session will explore the intersection of sports and environmental sustainability and will look at how sports organizations and facilities can lead the way in climate action.

Speakers: 
Joe Brolly – Faciliator
GAA All-Star, Barrister & GAA Media Analyst
Joe studied law at Trinity College Dublin. He is a practising barrister, working across a number of disciplines. He has been involved in many of the highest profile cases in the North over the last 25 years. He was a prolific sportsman, playing basketball for Ireland and Gaelic football for Derry and Ulster. He won a senior All-Ireland medal with Derry in 1993 and has multiple other awards and accolades. He is known in living rooms throughout the country as a straight talking, engaging and sometimes controversial figure. He writes a weekly column with the Sunday Independent and is a regular contributor on national radio and television across a wide range of subjects.

Dr Rob Mooney
Environment and Climate Division – Engagement and Adaption at Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications
Dr Rob Mooney is a social and behavioural scientist, programme director, strategist, and communications professional. have the privilege of working towards improving Irish society and our environment through the delivery of evidence informed policy in the areas of health and the environment for over 20 years. At present I lead the National Dialogue on Climate Action (NDCA) through which we are co-designing Irelands path towards a carbon neutral future.

Kurt Reinhardt
Manager of the Connacht GAA Center of Excellence
Kurt is the Manager of the Connacht GAA Center of Excellence which includes the worlds largest AirDome, The University of Galway Connacht GAA Airdome. The Center boasts 85 acres with 200,000 visitors per year and is the Sustainability, Biodiversity & Technology center for the GAA.
