A Modern Movement presents LOLZ (DJ set) Cat Turner, Boyfrens & Craig Cameron

A Modern Movement is proud to be bringing electro pop act Cat Turner, Boyfrens and Craig Cameron to grace the stage at The Loft at Seven this month. With a dj set from LOLZ. This event is sponsored by Bulmer’s, with 60 free pints to give to the first 60 in the door.

Cat Tuner is an electrifying alt-pop artist hailing from Galway, Ireland. With her powerful, raw vocals Cat fearlessly tackles topics like self-doubt, heartbreak, and indecision in her music.

Cat’s passion for creating music began when a band she wanted to start fell through. Undeterred, she picked up a keyboard from her brother’s room and started crafting her own sound. Since then, Cat has taken on the role of producer and fleshed out a unique sound of her own, culminating in a series of electrifying releases.

Cat has embraced the DIY ethos, finding inspiration in the challenge of making things herself. “Not making music was never a choice for me,” she says. “I need to spill my guts in these songs to relate to the world.”

With a growing list of accolades from respected outlets such as The Last Mixed Tape, Clash Magazine, and Hot Press, as well as recognition from Irish radio stations like 2FM, Spin103, and 98FM, Cat Tuner is a rising star to watch in the world of alt-pop.

Boyfrens is the songwriting and production project of Dublin electronic artist Jack Hevey. Since launching, Boyfrens has released two EPs, a mixtape, several singles, remixes and a live performance video. Influenced by artists like Suicide and Arthur Russell, Hevey crafts songs with a keen focus on lyrics and texture, where saturated synths meet hard-hitting percussion.

The project’s live show is geared towards late-night dancefloors – mixing live modulated vocals, analogue synths and programmed beats.

2023 will see several releases from the project, a string of live shows during the Summer and Autumn months and a number of collaborations with Irish artists.”

Craig Cameron is a 20 year old musician originally raised in Westmeath. Through part in various choirs and performing in pop duo, Second Best throughout his teens, music has always played a central role in Craig’s life. Although relatively new to the solo music scene, he has quietly won the hearts of Galway since 2019, constantly exploring new sounds and stories.

“I still hold on to a lot of the angst and wound up emotions I possessed throughout my teenage years and I think that really shows in the music I make even now at 20, honing in on those feelings of doubt, fear and loneliness…but in a good way”

LOLZ (DJ SET) – Described as a lynchpin of Irish electronic music, Lolz is established as one of the scene’s most in-demand DJs. Not one to be pinned down to a specific style or sound, her sets have rocked Ireland’s underground dancefloors, radio stations and major outdoor events. As well as guest appearances in cities like Berlin and Prague, and on international radio stations like Rince France, NTS and Refuge Worldwide under her belt, she also holds regular DJ residencies at home in Galway’s Bierhaus and Róisín Dubh.

A seasoned events booker, Lolz has showcased local, international, upcoming and established artists in her home city and beyond; while taking to the decks in her own right to support names likes Lena Willikens, Scratchclart, Helena Hauff, Giant Swan, OR:LA and DEBONAIR.

Behind the scenes, Lolz builds communities, she is co-founder of GASH Collective, a platform and label that supports underrepresented people in DJing and music production in Ireland. The brains behind Bounce, a dynamic and inclusive club night for people with intellectual disabilities and Blush, a multi-genre clubnight focused on the next generation of women, lgbtq+ and non-binary Irish artists.
