Daróg Wine Bar

A name that means ‘small oak tree’ Daróg Wine Bar is an intimate wine bar that has laid down its roots in Galway’s bohemian Westend.

Owned and run by husband and wife team, Zsolt Lukacs and Edel McMahon, they have curated gorgeous pairings between their artisan wine list and their range of hot and cold plates, as well snacks and cheese & meat boards.

Zsolt was a sommelier for twelve years in the Michelin-starred Aniar Restaurant, and he has put together a wine list that promotes unique wines from small producers off the beaten track. Alongside him, Edel is using her design and marketing experience of working with top-tier restaurants including Aniar, Cava Bodega, Armorica and il Vicolo, and channeling her passion for food, nature and local produce into Daróg. In the kitchen, Attila Galambos, the three-time finalist in the prestigious Euro Toques Ireland and former sous chef for Aniar. Originally from Hungary, Attila combines his culinary experience from France, Japan, Denmark and Ireland with local suppliers and produce.

Supporters of all small independent creators, at Daróg Wine Bar it’s not just the wine and food that is exquisite. Their new gallery wall features the gorgeous creations of local artists. The artwork on display will rotate every 6-8 weeks and will also be available to purchase in the wine bar.
