Credit Union take on 2,000km challenge for UHG Children’s Unit

Twenty-two Staff from St. Anthony’s & Claddagh Credit Union are setting off on a virtual challenge to walk up and down the length of Ireland over the coming weeks (2000km!) to fundraise money to upgrade the playground in St. Bernadette’s Children’s Unit in University Hospital Galway.

Can you help them reach their fundraising target? They are hoping to raise €2000, just a euro per kilometre! Donations can be made in branch or online at www.idonate.ie/SACU2000km .

Previously, the staff in St. Anthony’s Credit Union helped fundraise to install the existing playground and are now hoping to raise enough money to add more items so children of all abilities have an outdoor space to enjoy when they have to be in hospital for any reason.

"We have twenty-two eager staff taking part in our Virtual Challenge commencing on the 10th May. We have previously climbed Croagh Patrick, rowed rowing machines on The Prom and jumped from airplanes to fundraise for the current playground. We are proud to take part in this new challenge to upgrade the playground again which is such an important space in the paediatric unit." said Lisa Stewart of St. Anthony’s & Claddagh Credit Union. "At some point or other, each of us have had our own children or known children that have had to attend the paediatric unit and we are happy to be able to support the unit & staff in return again."
