‘Circus is for Every Body’ Documentary Screening at The EYE Cinema

Galway Community Circus presents ‘Circus is for Every Body’, a documentary film screening at The EYE Cinema this month that follows the experiences of D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent young people in Galway, as they take part in circus for the first time. Find out more here...

Over six months Galway Community Circus delivered weekly workshops with young people from Galway Autism Partnership, Enable Ireland and Scoil Chaitríona. Week by week, the young people built skills in aerial, acrobatics, balance and creative expression. More importantly, they built confidence and trust – in themselves and in each other.

Through two creative residencies, disabled and non-disabled artists from Extraordinary Bodies (a UK inclusive circus company) worked alongside the young people and Galway Community Circus trainers to shape a final performance – ‘Take Up Space’.

This documentary centres on the young people as they share their journeys and the joy and camaraderie they felt from this project. Their parents, support workers and the Galway Community Circus and Extraordinary Bodies teams reflect on the delight they felt from working with the young people.

‘Circus is for Every Body’ documentary screening will take place at 3pm on Saturday 16th May 2026 at The EYE Cinema, Wellpark, Galway H91 X4AV.

Disabled parking is available and EYE is wheelchair friendly and accessible. The film will be subtitled for D/deaf and hard of hearing viewers.

'Circus is for Every Body' was funded by the Rethink Ireland Disability and Participation Awareness Fund, the RTÉ Toy Show Appeal via the Community Foundation Ireland, The Arts Council and Galway City Council.
