Celebrating 70 Years with Walsh’s Bakery in Clifden

A family run establishment at the heart of Clifden town, Walsh’s Bakery has an outstanding 70 years of experience in their craft. Their passion and commitment to high quality, homemade products shines through in everything they accomplish.

Walsh’s Bakery has been providing the West of Galway with heavenly handcrafted breads, baked goods, confectionery and hot deli food for the best part of a century. Founded in 1953 by Tom and Una Walsh, with the help of their seven children their small bakery gradually evolved into a landmark bakery and shop in Connemara. As the bakery’s 70th anniversary approaches, Walsh’s Bakery continues to thrive under the leadership of Tom and Una’s son Cathal, his wife, Joan, and daughter, Róisín.

A family business through and through, Cathal tells us; “We have a family network and we try to involve those who have been with us for such a long time working as a total family fabric - that's crucial to what we do.” Calling attention to the support and hard work of his wife Joan, his mother, his siblings, and the staff they worked alongside throughout the years, Cathal continues; “To have the product that we have, to do what we’re doing and to be able to keep it going the way we are, is a testament to all of them.“ This September, they would be delighted if you joined them in marking their monumental milestone of 70 years in business at a special celebration. Details will be announced closer to the time, stay tuned.

Always welcoming new members to their team, with both full time and part time positions available. If you’re interested in working here, email your CV to info@walshs bakery.com - they promise lots of delicious treats in return! Visit them on Clifden's Market Street and discover more here.
