Silverstrand

Silverstrand, located in Barna, is a picturesque sandy beach in Galway. Awarded a Blue Flag status, Silverstand is a wonderful place to swim, or just have a beach day! The beach has been hailed as one of the most unique beaches in Galway. Outstretched across the Atlantic coast, a single lone cliff borders the sand, creating an incredible view. Silverstrand is just a quick 15 minute drive outside of the city, making it the perfect place for a day trip. With lifeguards on duty throughout the summer months, this is another safe and clean destination for a sea swim.

Rossadillisk Strand

In the ruggedly beautiful west, there is no lack of incredible views to enjoy while you swim. Rossadillisk Strand is a swimming spot up in Connemara that provides stunning scenery as you dip your toes in the refreshing Atlantic. The strand stretches right around Rossadillisk Point. The strand is also a part of the Aughrus Peninsula in Connemara, which is filled with beaches that are safe, clean, and picturesque! During the top of a flood tide is the perfect time to stretch out in the sea, as the water is typically warmest then.

Salthill Beaches - Blackrock Diving Tower

We would be remiss if we didn't include Blackrock diving tower on our list of best swimming spots! Located in Salthill along the prom, Blackrock is an iconic Galway landmark, perfect for making waves in the ocean. The tower has three different heights for diving in, making it perfect for all swimmers. Spend the day on the beaches of Salthill jumping into the Atlantic. While you’re there, pick up a coffee or smoothie bowl from Blackrock Cottage, located right next to the tower!
