Tipster Lunch at the G Hotel this race week

Rachael Blackmore and Davy Russell to headline the g hotel’s annual tipster lunch on Galway Plate day along with Racing Correspondent George Mc Donagh,
Irish Jockeys, Davey Russell and Rachael Blackmore, one of only three female professional National Hunt Jockeys in Ireland will headline the 5 star g hotel’s, annual tipster lunch on Wednesday 31st of July next. Hosted by Racing Correspondent and Galway Bay FM’s George Mc Donagh, the g hotel and spa’s tipster lunch is certainly your Race Card for all the winners this Galway Race Week, and of course Galway Plate day.

To mark the occasion of Galway Plate Day, guests will enjoy prosecco on arrival followed by a sumptuous 2 course lunch in the award winning Restaurant GiGi’s, Galway Races Tickets, and transfer to Ballybrit for €65 per person while enjoying the company of two of Ireland’s finest jockeys, Davy Russell and Rachael Blackmore.

From Killenaule, Co Tipperary Rachael Blackmore is one of only three Female Professional National Hunt Jockeys in Ireland. She only turned professional in the spring of 2015, at the age of 26. From major successes at Cheltenham, the Curragh and many other race meetings, George will talk Galway Races, Racing in general with Rachael Blackmore and her tips for the Galway Plate and of course ladies day both on and off the track.

Davy Russell a regular at the g hotel’s annual tipster lunch not to mention the Galway Races will also share his top tips for the Galway Plate and Hurdle while George will delve into successes so far this year and what the remainder of the season holds for Davy.

Always a lively lunch, George Mc Donagh’s unique interview style and indepth knowledge of racing in Ireland is sure to probe the best tips from both on and off the track at Ballybrit from both Davy Russell and Rachael Blackmore in the luxurious surroundings of the award winning Restaurant GiGi’s at the 5 star g hotel and spa, a favourite for all Galway Race Week fans.

The g hotel is always a most popular venue during Galway Race Week whether race goers are entertaining clients or getting together with family and friends for what is a milestone in the Galway festival calendar not to mention the Irish Racing Calendar. From Fashionistas to Milliners from Monday through to Friday and on into the August Bank Holiday Weekend, the g hotel has a lively entertainment programme for everyone with dedicated menus in Restaurant GiGi’s and more casual dining in its Signature Ground Floor Lounges, not to mention an extensive range of fabulous cocktails, wines, gins, craft beers and Tattinger Champagne.

The annual Galway Races Ladies Day, Best Hat and most Dapper Gent competition which will this year come with a prize fund of €5,000 inclusive of an exclusive, bespoke creation by Cork Milliner and 2018 winner at the g hotel Tina Coyne of Elizabeth Creative Design. Milliner and designer of the 2019 winning hat will have the opportunity to create the 2020 g hotel best hat prize for the winner of their exclusive annual best hat competition. The most dapper gent will look forward to a fabulous Strellson branded suit, shirt and tie with Gordon Brothers shoes from Hanley & Co here in Galway. Both winners will receive luxury stay vouchers at the luxurious 5-star g hotel and spa. The best hat winner will also receive a €1,000 cash prize as part of the g hotel’s prize fund. Miss Ireland, Aoife O Sullivan, last year’s winner of the best hat at the g hotel will judge this year’s competition alongside Ireland’s leading Fashion Editor Bairbre Power of the Irish Independent and together they will review what is always a glorious array of high-end fashion and stunning, bespoke millinery before crowning the Best Hat with this years.

Entertainment during the week will include groups the Lady and the Tramps on Ladies Day from 7pm, Jazz at the g with the Velvet Lounge band on Friday night, along with late DJ sets. Resident Pianist Catherine Gavin will also entertain g hotel guests throughout selected afternoons with racing lunches and afternoon teas.
