The Stunning and David Kitt to Headline Ceol an t’Samhraidh Concerts in Ballinasloe and Clifden this month.
As part of the Government’s Local Live Performance Programming Scheme, Galway County Council Arts and Tourism Offices are proud to present their fourth edition of Ceol an tSamhraidh, a series of free live music events taking place on Saturday 16th and Friday 22nd of October in Ballinasloe and Clifden.
On Septmber 16th The Stunning will take to the stage at the Town Hall Theatre in Ballinasloe to perform a string of hits including Brewing up a Storm, Half Past Two, and Romeo’s on Fire. In the seven years they were initially together, they toured relentlessly building up a following that would make them one of the most successful Irish bands ever. Their debut album, ‘Paradise in The Picturehouse’ spent five weeks at number one and became one of the most-loved Irish albums of all time.
There is also a very special evening planned for October 22nd, when David Kitt will entertain a lucky audience at The Station House in Clifden. It will be his first time playing Clifden, celebrating by performing his new top ten release album ‘20’. An artist known for his willingness to explore musically, he was invited by the legend, David Bowie to perform at the Bowie curated Meltdown Festival at the Royal Festival Hall in 2002.
“We are very pleased to be able to bring these incredibly talented artists to audiences this October to extend the tourism season and provide an events based focus in the evening economy in two very different parts of Co.Galway,'' said Ruth Mulhern, Galway County Tourism Officer.
County Arts Officer Sharon O’Grady said “Ceol an tSamhraidh continues to deliver high-quality performances with the addition of these two special concerts. This programme allows us to support wonderful performing artists and crew, whilst also entertaining audiences across Galway.”
This scheme; funded through the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, aims to provide support for people in the live performance industry and facilitate programming of outdoor live performances in county Galway through 2021, animating town centres for local communities.
