MISLEÓR FESTIVAL CELEBRATES NOMADIC CULTURE

Misleór (Cant/Gammon word for ‘wanderer’) will celebrate the rich heritage of nomadic cultures online this year

From November 19th-21st, Misleór will showcase music, art, storytelling, poetry and cinema from around the world by broadcasting these very special events through their Facebook and Vimeo page, as well as through the Galway Traveller Movement social media accounts. Through the lens of creativity and social action for change, the festival will spark important dialogue about cultural rights, challenging the discrimination and racism experienced by nomadic communities.

Senator Eileen Flynn will open the festival at 7pm on Thursday the 19th of November with a very special "On The Road" Opening Ceremony which will be broadcast online. That will be followed by an evening of storytellers and bards to explore tales from nomadic culture and tradition from varied backgrounds. The rest of the festival's events will explore cinema, song and language from nomadic cultures, as well as celebrating Galway Traveller Pride.
