At this year’s Group Travel Awards in London, Ireland was voted ‘Best European Destination’ for the third year in a row, and we’re not surprised in the slightest. Sure don’t our idyllic landscapes, stunning cultural heritage and unbeatable craic make it a no brainer!
With Germany taking second place and Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic and Switzerland making up the competition, Ireland beat out a multitude of beautiful travel destinations throughout Europe.
The accolade takes events, accommodation, transport providers and attractions into consideration when reaching the decision, as per the votes of the Group Travel Organiser Magazine readers.
Dublin’s Guinness Storehouse was seconded only by Disneyland Paris in the category of Best European Attraction, with Titanic Belfast landing sixth place.
When speaking on her delight with Ireland’s win, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Great Britain Julie Wakley said, “Travellers nowadays have tremendous choice, which makes it more important than ever for us to ensure the island of Ireland stands out from other destinations – so this award is good news indeed, reminding group organisers around Britain that Ireland is the ideal choice."
In that spirit, if you’re still uncertain on where to travel to this summer – I think this should make your mind up!
