The Double Life Of Veronique Screening – Galway City Of Film at Pálás Cinema

European Night Of Film, celebrating EU50 – 50 years of Ireland being part of the European Union. Screening The Double Life of Veronique.

Galway City of Film, led by Ardán, and supported by Galway City Council, will host a screening for the European Night of Film at the Pálás Cinema on 11th May 2023 at 7pm, to celebrate EU50 (50 years of Ireland as part of the EU.) There will also be a pre-screening reception at 6pm.

The Double Life of Veronique (1991), directed by Krysztof Kieslowski is two parallel stories about two identical women; one living in Poland, the other living in France. In the story, the two women don’t know each other, but their lives are nevertheless profoundly connected. (IMDb).

“The elusiveness of the film is precisely the point: it is as beautiful and mysterious as a poem and its formal elegance and conviction are unarguable. What makes it a must-see, however, is the generous, unselfconscious passion of Jacob’s performance as a young woman – two young women – in love” Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

Galway City of Film (Ceantar Scannan) is a UNESCO designation held jointly by Galway City Council and Galway County Council, and managed on their behalf by Ardán.
