In the mid 1990s, the legendary Hollywood B movie producer Roger Corman created a studio in Conamara. In five years he produced close to twenty feature films with a largely Irish crew. The man who launched the cinematic careers of Coppola, Scorsese, Nicholson and De Niro helped to launch many production careers in Ireland and there are many who credit him with their success.Corman’s time making movies in Conamara would be marred by controversy as he managed to upset the unions and the tastes of cinephiles.
