Gaillimh Ah-Boo

This October Galway City along Ireland’s iconic Wild Atlantic Way will reclaim Samhain’s ancient Celtic origins with Gaillimh Ah-Boo!, a vibrant, city-wide celebration of food, folklore, and feasting.

Highlights include the annual Macnas Parade, creepy Comedy nights with Galway Comedy Festival, eerie Dark History tours with Experience Galway, a Harvest Feast like no other with renowned chef JP McMahon and Blás na Samhain—a series of intimate supper clubs inspired by Irish mythology.

Come and discover captivating art installations in shop fronts by renowned Irish artist Rita Duffy, dance along in a “Thrilling” Samhain Community Dance Spectacle with Genevieve Ryan Dance Academy, and honour and welcome ancestors with the Samhain Procession | Día de los Muertos, led by Galway’s Mexican community.

With storytelling trails, animated shopfronts, and Halloween hubs across the city, Galway invites visitors to experience a season of heritage and harvest like nowhere else in Ireland.

A play on the roaring battle cry “Gaillimh abú!”, this Samhain season invites you to find your inner goblins and ghouls and take to the streets in a spirited celebration of mischief, magic, and myth.

Gaillimh Ah-Boo! – presented as part of the Galway City Home of Halloween Programme, is funded by Galway City Council, Failte Ireland and the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport.

This years programme is delivered in partnership with Galway Comedy Festival, Blás na Gaillimhe, Food on the Edge, Baboró Children’s Arts festival, Galway City Nightime Economy, Lally Tours & Experience Galway.
