Dr Lorraine Grimes will be presenting her book Single Mothers in Twentieth Century Ireland and Britain in the Mick Lally Theatre, the Druid Venue at 2pm on Saturday 7th of March.

Central to the book are testimony of survivors who endured an unplanned pregnancy and travelled to Britain, as well as those born in a mother and baby institution. Contributors to the book will speak about their own personal experiences of institutionalisation, repatriation/deportation from the UK back to Ireland following pregnancy and experiences of forced adoption.

The event is part of the Flowers for the Galway Magdalene Women 2026 project, who are a recipient of a CAIRDE grant from Galway City Council. All welcome to attend.
