8-BIT Banjo: Galway’s Punk Rebels with a Ferocious Sound & Uncompromising Message

8-BIT Banjo, the punk band that’s been igniting stages and sparking revolutions, has established itself as a formidable force in the music scene. With a sound reminiscent of 70s punk rock and an unapologetic political edge, 8-BIT Banjo isn’t just a band; they’re the musical embodiment of dissent and activism.

Formed in Galway in 2015, 8-BIT Banjo was the brainchild of California-born multi-instrumentalist Bip Henderson. With his fiery guitar skills and a voice that echoes the raw power of punk legends, Bip created a musical project to challenge the status quo and inspire change.

In 2022, Brazilian bassist Wagner Rosati joined the ranks, adding a groovy foundation to the band’s ferocious sound. Shortly after, Galwegian drummer Jake Russen brought his relentless beats into the mix, solidifying the trio’s explosive line-up.

Since its inception, 8-BIT Banjo has left an indelible mark on the music and film industry. They’ve scored several award-winning short films. Their remix of “Hobby Shop” appeared on the 2018 album “Outer Limits” by David Liebe Hart (known for his work on “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!” & ”Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule”). Their song “The Boys of the Hill” is featured on the soundtrack of upcoming film “Isleen Pines”.

In 2020, 8-BIT Banjo collaborated with renowned Irish language singer Lasairfhíona on the powerful song “Scáileán Leictreach”. They continued their collaboration with Lasairfhíona for Oíche Chultúir 2021, releasing the track “Óró ‘S É Do Bheatha Abhaile.”

What sets 8-BIT Banjo apart is their unapologetic political stance. They sing about challenging authority, fighting against the injustices of the Catholic Church, condemning oppressive landlords, and advocating for animal rights through their vegan lifestyle. Their music is a powerful medium for rebellion and social change.

As 8-BIT Banjo continues to shake up the music scene, they invite all like-minded rebels to join their cause, crank up the volume, and make a change. For those who crave classic punk rock’s energy, passion, and political punch, 8-BIT Banjo is the band to watch.
