ConTempo Countywide: Shorelines Arts Festival

Continuing its commitment to bringing performance to local centres throughout County Galway, Galway Music Residency is delighted to present its 2019/20 ConTempo Countywide season. This year, GMR is more dedicated than ever to working with local groups, schools and festivals to present high quality, collaborative events that positively impact communities and offer all the opportunity to engage with music and spark joy in their lives.

The series begins with a visit to Portumna and a partnership with Shorelines Arts Festival. This festival, now recognised as East Galway’s premiere Arts Festival, exists to foster the Arts in the community and the surrounding area of Lough Derg and the Slieve Aughties. Celebrating the arts in all its various forms with a particular emphasis on literature, visual arts, drama and music/song, the Shorelines Arts Festival seeks to provide opportunities for the local community to develop their imagination through art, music, drama, etc. Matching its own mission so beautifully, Galway Music Residency is delighted to present ConTempo Quartet in a very special coffee concert at 11:30am on Thursday 19th September. With a varied programme suitable for all ears, what better way to kick off the festival! Admission is FREE and donations are most welcome.

Supported by NUI Galway (Education Partner), the Arts Council, Galway County Council and GMIT, admission to these events are free, open to all and early arrival is recommended. For further information visit
