AN ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO GIN FEST 2019
If you’re partial to the odd gin and tonic, it’s your time to shine! The Latin Quarter’s Gin Fest is kicking off today, June 6, and will continue on until Saturday, June 9, with some special events marking World Gin Day on Saturday. The festivities include a Gin Village, some Gin Cruises, cocktail competitions, master classes and many more spirited events. Amidst the craic, you’ll get to sample a variety of G&Ts from around the globe and even learn how to enhance your beverage with the best tonics and garnishes.
There’s a very busy schedule of events taking place across the Latin Quarter’s many watering holes, so we’ve narrowed it down a bit to some essential shindigs you’re going to want to swing by.
TAKING PLACE AT TAAFFES
Taaffes are widely respected for their traditional Irish music session, embracing locals and tourists into their fold with a warm welcome and great company, Taaffes know just how to make you feel at home. What better way to while the weekend away than to enjoy some good old fashioned ceol while sipping away on some of the best gins in town?
TAKING PLACE AT 1520
Whether it’s the Cucumber Currency or a Silver Spear Sampling, 1520 aren’t holding back when it comes to gin festivities. With two events taking place each day and some serious drink deals on offer, odds are you’ll be spending a lot of the weekend in here. Dingle Gin and Schwepps Elder anybody?
TAKING PLACE AT THE FRONT DOOR
A weekend spent propping up the bar of the Front Door is always tempting, but in honour of Gin Fest, they’re upping the ante. Acclaimed chef JP McMahon will be stopping by for oysters and gin tasting on Friday, there’ll be a gin brunch on Sunday and plenty more gin-themed offerings all weekend long!
SATURDAY AT BUSKER BROWNES
Micil Distillery Tour @ 3.30pm
Teaming up with the ridiculously knowledgeable crew at Micil Distillery, Busker Brownes are taking gin-lovers on an exclusive tour of the distillery. Transportation will be provided along with a few tipples before returning to Buskers for more Micil gin and some finger food to be enjoyed into the early hours.

SATURDAY AT MERROW
Bottomless Brunch with Micil Gin @ 12.30pm and 3.30pm
The only thing better than brunch is a bottomless boozy brunch, so this should definitely be on your agenda! Each ticket will include a gin-themed brunch, a sweet treat and bottomless Micil Gin & Tonic in the beautiful surroundings of Merrow Restaurant.

SATURDAY AT THE LIQUOR LOUNGE
Bar Takeover with Andrew Dickie @ 9pm
The cocktails will be flowing and the tunes will be pumping in the Liquor Lounge this weekend. Irish Distiller’s Brand Expert Andrew Dickie will be lending is expertise as guest bartender from 9pm, and as one of the best in the business, you’re sure to be impressed by his cocktail skills and selection.
SATURDAY AT THE QUAYS
The Latin Quarter Gin Village @ 5-7pm
For one night only, the Gin Village will return to Galway’s Latin Quarter for an evening of GINtastic divilment featuring a pop-up bar of the finest G&T brands old and new, some Murphy’s Dingle ice cream, a live DJ and the opportunity to meet the makers of some of your favourite gins. SUNDAY AT TIGH NORA
Gin Cruise with Tigh Nora & Fever Tree @ 6pm
Prepare to set sail on an exclusive Corrib Princess boat for an evening of gin and tonic libations, hosted by Tigh Nora’s resident gin expert Fiachra. The festivities will begin with a nautical reception in Galway’s finest gin bars before passengers sail away. On board, there’ll be a live DJ, gin tasting and tips, and some gin-themed games and giveaways! There will also be a Build Your Own G&T station, so expect drinking and dancing aplenty.
